JOSEPH HOLMES 1954-2023
It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that Joe Holmes has lost his battle with cancer, passing away on Saturday 23rd September 2023.
Joe played in the lower leagues for many seasons with Brixham TTC being a regular member of the Brixham Dolphins, Diamonds and Swallows teams between 2014-2019 and more recently he turned out for NA Kites during the 2021-22 season. Joe’s battle with cancer prevented his return the following season although we did see him on the table again briefly earlier this year following his initial recovery after his treatment.
Friend and fellow TT player Mike Wickens said ‘I played against Joe who was a formidable and dedicated player who spent hours practising often on his own at home. I also played in teams with him and was always encouraged in a positive way. A ready Liverpudlian wit, who I regarded as a good friend. RIP Joe.
There will be a celebration of Joe's life this coming Saturday 30th September @ 3pm at Applebys, The Heritage Hotel, Beach Front, Sheddon Hill, Torquay TQ2 5TY.
