Roy’s Boys worked hard all evening with Barry Hooper top-scoring with 6 sets in the singles. Roy Hooper added a further 3, with a single set added by new team member, Paul Sams. With success in only one doubles set, Roy’s Boys ended their evening with 11 points.

Barry Hooper was the shining light for Roy’s Boys, winning all 6 of the team’s singles sets. He then teamed up with Roy Hooper to win one consolation doubles set to give them a final score of 7 for the evening.

Drifters had the daunting task of playing high flying Allsorts this week. It was indeed mission impossible for the home side against relentless opposition. Despite 5 sets being lost by the minimum of 2 points, Drifters never managed to get onto the scorecard to save the whitewash.

For Plan B Martin Shoots prevailed in 3 singles sets, with Geoff Williams and Robin Arkell adding a further 2 sets apiece. With no success in the doubles Plan B ended with the modest score of 7 points.

Wanderers struggled against such strong opponents but played with good spirit throughout the match. Jani Jasielczuk won the only singles set for his team, with Laurie Chalk and Tim Bosley combining in the doubles to also win a single set. Final score for Wanderers: 2 points.

Hillbillies never really got going  and Curtis King and the ambidextrous Sifa Vea scored 4 singles sets apiece. Andy Godfrey played as substitute and added a further 2 singles sets. With 4 doubles sets the final tally for Hillbillies rose to 14.

Following the completion of the qualifying round, the West Somerset Table Tennis League got underway this week. There are two divisions, each containing 6 teams, that will play one round to decide the division champions for this season.

The qualifying round for the West Somerset Table Tennis League was completed this week when all outstanding matches were played.

For Roy’s Boys it was Barry Hooper that made his opponents work hard for each point and top-scored with 5 singles sets. To conclude the scoring for Roy’s Boys, Roy Hooper added one further singles set to give their final match score of 6.

Allsorts pressed hard in the singles led by Scott Milton with 6. Andy Berry and Geoff Williams won 4 sets apiece. With only 4 doubles sets to add to the scoreline, the disappointing doubles result decided the match, with Allsorts ending the evening on 18 points.

Allsorts won the match with a Grand Slam 36 points, with maximums in all the singles and doubles. Drifters gave a good account of themselves and the match was played in great spirit throughout the evening.
