First match this week saw Plan B entertaining Drifters. Both Geoff Williams and Martin Shoots scored a maximum apiece, with player of the match going to Geoff. David Veale played as substitute for the evening and used all his experience to add 2 further singles sets. The doubles were evenly contested, with 5 sets gained. This gave a final score of 25 points to Plan B as they ended the match with a narrow victory.

Drifters were up for the game and played consistently throughout. Liz Fletcher and Andrew Miles each won 5 singles sets, with Andrew in stunning form with his pimple bat. 4 more singles sets were added by David Smith. Drifters prevailed in the doubles with 6 sets to bring their final tally to 20.

Wanderers came across White Horse at the Lawns where they attempted to tame the beast. The going was heavy with only Jani Jasielczuk making any headway and scoring all the team’s singles sets with a total of 6. Jani then teamed up with Lauri Chalk to add one doubles set. Wanderers ended the evening with a total of 7 points.

White Horse had their heads in front from the off. With the bit between his teeth, it was Ian Rew that led the field with his maximum and earning the player of the match award. Ian was closely followed by both Andy Godfrey and Jamie Robertson who were neck and neck with 6 singles sets apiece. With a maximum in the doubles White Horse entered the winners’ enclosure with an excellent 30 points.

Gnomads hosted Roy’s Boys at Bishops Lydiard where Martin Rant continued with his good form for the home team. Martin’s maximum earned him the player of the match award. Tony Brookes and Derek Mayall each won 7 singles sets before the whole team combined to close out the match with a maximum in the doubles. Gnomads continue to threaten the top of the table with 32 points from this match.

Roy’s Boys struggled throughout the match with Barry Hooper being their star performer and winning all the team’s 7 singles sets. Barry then teamed up with Roy Hooper to glean one final doubles set. Roy’s Boys took away a total of 8 points for their efforts.

The final match this week saw junior based Hawks challenging high-flyers, Allsorts. This was always going to be a hard match for the home team against the current league leaders. Many games went to deuce, and others were lost by the minimum 2-point margin, leaving Hawks with modest success in only the singles. Mark Scyner scored 3, and Alfie Southam won 2 sets after a 5-set thriller to raise the team total to 5 points.

Allsorts were relentless throughout the match. In the singles both Scott Milton and Curtis King scored a maximum apiece. Player of the match was difficult to assess with Curtis continuing to improve his averages, but Scott received the award once the scores were analysed. Steve Brooks had his first outing of the season and added a solid 6 singles sets. With a maximum in the doubles Allsorts extended their lead at the top of the table with a total of 33 points.
