This was the second match of return fixtures and it is becoming increasingly important for Sonning to win points to avoid relegation. This evening we came up against Kingfisher H who won the first match convincingly.

Match 1. Harry v Huzeyfe.

Huzeyfe took the first game 11-4 displaying his strong forehand passing shots. Harry came back well in to take games 2 & 3. The fourth game went to and fro before Huzeyfe sneaked through 11-9. Harry took a strong lead in game 5 and turned round at 5-2 up. Huzeyfe then won the next two points before Harry stretched his lead to 8-4. There was a moment of controversy when a Let was called on a service. A time out was requested but I leant after the match they are not permitted in the Reading League. However, then Harry managed to see out the game 11-7.

Match 2 Keith v Eyup

Another 5 game match which in 3 games were won by just two points. Keith seemed to have his back problems behind him ( no pun) and was playing much better. He pushed Eyup very close and only succumbed 11-9 in the 5th Game.

Match 3 Cris v Aydin

First 8 points went with serve. Thereafter Cris managed to win his only game of the night! From here Aydin took control winning the next three games reasonably comfortably.

Match 4. Keith v Huzeyfe.

Keith managed a great win against Huzeyfe in four games. Huzeyfe complimented Keith afterwards saying that Keith had played a very intelligent game.

So 2-2 after 4 matches.

Match 5 Harry v Aydin

Another match that went to 5 games. Harry looked comfortable as he led two games to one. However Aydin fought back to win in 5 games.

After this match from matches 6 to 10 Harry, Keith and Cris did not win a single game. It seemed that Kingfisher found another gear

We invited our opponents to join us in the bar but all were working so declined! I only asked they rollover Tilehurst Methodists 10-0 as we are chasing them to move up one place.
