Warehouse’s second game was a 7-2 defeat against Rawreth B, with the MoM on the night being Eric Green who mixed a magical blend of defence and attack. The highlight of the evening was his 3-0 win over Kim Shead. Bruce Kettle and Mike Hayes picked up two each, both losing out to Shead.

It was a familiar story for Stanford-le-Hope with only Rahul Sharma ‘troubling the scorers’ as they went down 7-2 to Brand Identity A. Sharma picked up wins against Barrie Delf and Chris Jacob but was unable to get the better of man of the match Simon Jacob.

Our Annual Southend Quiz Night was again a most enjoyable evening with some 60 people supporting the event. The 7 Team Tables fitted nicely into Rawreth providing a good atmosphere throughout.

Thorpe Bay B scored big points this week by beating Stanford-le -Hope 8-1. The scoreline does hide the fact, however, that three of the opening four games went to five sets. Rahul Sharma recorded the consolation point for Stanford with a good win over Richard Stubbington.
Southend players Dan Zeffie, Dan Young and Livi Jones played for Essex Cadets last Saturday12th November.
It was an 'Unbeaten' team performance against Middlesex and Surrey. Well played them all.

Liam Squirrel’s impressive start to the season stuttered this week as he dropped the only two games lost by his side, to Harry Small and Matthew Stringer, as Thorpe Bay B beat Hockley A 7-2.

The format was each team consists of 3 boys and 2 girls. A maximum of 10 points per match. The girls played against each other. The boys no 1 played 1 & 2, no 2 play 1 & 3 finally no 3 played 2 & 3. Matt was ranked no 2.

In the final match this week Warehouse (Kim Shead, Martin Turner and martin West) proved too strong for Stanford in a 6-3 win although Rahul Sharma continued his great start to the season with a hatrick for the defeated side.

It was a night to forget for Rayleigh Mill as they came up against the “Great Wall of Lentern”. That Wall of course was Ian Wall, who, along with his team mates Keith Adams and Edward Ogbebor (and a little help from the net) soundly thrashed Rayleigh Mill 9-0.
SDTTL 2017-8 Week 4 Reports
Stanford-le-Hope beat Hadleigh Forum B 5-4 this week in what will probably be an important game in the battle for survival in the Premier division. Rahul Sharma continued his excellent start to the season with a triple for Stanford.
A Chudi Ukpaka maximum inspired Basildon Hospital to a 6 – 3 home win against Wakering. Dean Baker pitched in with two wins and Albert Harrison added another. For the visitors, Nigel Cook won two and Stewart Mills one.

Four teams have started the season with two wins so Canvey D, Hadleigh Forum D, Stanford Le Hope C and Hockley F occupy the top four places.

Hullbridge F’s young team triumphed 5 – 4 on their debut at this level at Basildon Hospital, thanks to a hat trick from Harrison Sadler and two from William Skelt. Chudi Ukpaka got two and Gill and Mike Smith one each for the medics.

Second place Hockley C played hosts to lowly Invicta B. A hat trick from the ever-reliable Stuart Adshead, with two wins for Joe Lock and one for Neal Klyman gave them a 6 – 3 win. David Barnes and Barrie Murphy got the visitors’ points.
There was a very competitive night with Stanford- le-hope playing genuine premier standard table tennis to win some hard fought games against Warehouse A – all players wining at least one game leading to a 5-4 for the Stanford side

RESSC carried on their good recent form, overcoming Castle Point D 9 – 0. Sarah Mapes, Ron Coutts and Stan Dyson were all too strong for their visitors.
The final game of the week saw many people’s favourites for the title this year, Hullbridge A record a 7-2 win over Castle Point A. Stuart Gibbs and Richard went unbeaten while there were good wins for Chris Jacob and Richard Jackman over Dave Bowles.

Premier Division Castle Point A recorded a 7-2 win over Customs A this week. Roy Thomas scored impressive wins over Chris and Simon Jacob but came up short against Barrie Delf, who managed to beat Thomas for the first time to record a maximum.

There was a close game when Castle Point A travelled to meet Hullbridge B resulting in a 5-4 win for the away side. Two wins each for Simon Jacob and Richard Jackman and one from Chris Jacob was enough to take the victory despite a hat-trick for Ben Warner of Hullbridge.
Second place met third place this week as Hullbridge A and Thorpe Bay A went head to head with the result a 6-3 win to Thorpe Bay A. This was a real team effort with two wins each for John Poysden, Paul Sayer and Paul Whatton, none of whom could get the better of the in-form Kevin Caldon.
