Table Tennis Inter-club Initiative
Four clubs; Natland, Kendal Social TT Club, Kirkby Stephen and Warcop have been playing a series of friendly matches for starters, returners and improvers. The idea is to help players develop their match play skills and abilities by playing against players of a similar standard in a friendly, but competitive match setting. It is hoped that this will give players more opportunities to improve without too much pressure, increase confidence and encourage players to consider playing in the KDTTL. It is also an important way to develop inter-club engagement, increase friendship and build upon other shared initiatives such as coaching sessions.
To date, matches have been on a monthly basis between Natland and Kendal Social TT Club, while Kirkby Stephen visited Natland for a fixture in February and a return fixture was held in March between Kirkby Stephen, Warcop and Natland. A doubles tournament was run and hosted by Kirkby Stephen Table Tennis Club on 27 April 2023.
The Natland and Kendal Leisure Centre monthly matches will continue through the summer and future fixtures between the other clubs are being planned for autumn 2023.
If other KDTTL clubs have starters/returners/improvers who would benefit from joining this initiative or would like to organise pre-season or one-off friendlies then please contact Seamus Hanna:
