I need now to firm up bookings and for you to confirm if you are coming. Thanks.

Kendal League is largely subsidising the day but we are asking for a fee of £10 per participant to assist with the cost.

Coffee will be served and there will be a snack lunch provided(mainly Higginson pie segments!)

Dan O’Connell and his wife Beth will lead the day which will run from 10am -3pm.

Please book your place  by emailing me. Thanks

Dear All,

A date for your diaries.

We are going to run a coaching day for coaches on the 1st July. Dan O’Connell and his wife Beth will lead the day which we expect to run from circa 10am -3pm.

I hope you will be able to attend.

Dan is currently taking an MSc in Sports Coaching and will be in a position to share with us some of the theory content of that course. The bulk of the day will be geared towards practical aspects of coaching table tennis with all participants being invited to have a go at the various drills and techniques being covered.

Please let me know  what topics you would like covered as we can tailor the course content to our requirements.

I already have a note to include Serving and the theory side will cover topics such as player motivation, concentration and player progression.  We will look at coaching of beginners right through to elite players but with most focus on the level of players we are all coaching on a day to day basis ie juniors/beginners through to club level players.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to share our experiences, the drills we use, games, techniques etc.

I am not sure of the cost yet as Dan and Beth will need to charge us for preparation time as well as delivery time and I also hope that the League will agree to subsidise the cost. The course will be open to anyone who coaches, helps with coaching or is interested in coaching. Please do share the date with anyone who may be interested in attending.

Dan O’Connell is currently the Table Tennis performance coach at UCLAN and a former assistant coach to the UAE national team. Former Welsh No.1, he played professionally in Europe and played for Wales in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Beth O’Connell is a former top 20 England ranked player and was in the top ten at Cadet, Junior and under

 21 levels.

She currently plays in the Premier Division of the Women’s British League.

Beth has a Bachelors degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a Masters in Sport and Mental Health.

If you think you would like to attend please let me know and I will book you a place.

Best regards

Peter
