Match report - November 7th

The return from injury of Steve Dixon heralded a first outing for serial Division 1 champions IBIS. A 7-3 victory over reigning champions Dalton A will have sent shudders down the spine of other aspiring contenders. 4 wins from Steve Dixon, including victory in the doubles, underpinned this impressive result. Even the evergreen Keith Dymond could not halt the Dixon juggernaut. The award for comeback of the week goes to Tony Whitehouse of Dalton B, who having been completely outplayed for 2 games by Peter Baxendale of Burton A, somehow recovered to win 3-11, 3-11, 13-11, 11-5, 11-4. Dalton B won the match 7-3.

The situation at the top of Division 2 is extremely tight with only 2 points separating 1st from 4th. Dallam A remain in the strongest position, only 2 points from the top, but with a game in hand. The all Burton clash of Burton B v Burton D, produced a thrilling 5-5 draw. Another 3 singles wins from Martin Wakelin and one from Mike Gregory, along with victory in the doubles for Wakelin and Bob Quick cancelled out 2 wins apiece from Bryan and Shelley Rhodes and one from Simon Gregory.

Grayrigg returned to the top of Division 3 with an 18-17 victory against Crook C. Kevin Hunter won all of his singles matches without the loss of a game.
