It was announced in the middle of last week that the Premier Division’s Ramsbottom C team was now unsustainable and has now been withdrawn from the league. Team Captain Bryan Edwards has also fallen and broken his hip and had a replacement immediately. We wish him a progressive recovery.

Second-placed St. Paul’s Peel had their fourth win of the season over Polonia Club B 20-12 with the expected nine from Lee Devenport. Third-placed Hilton E managed a win over Ladybridge B despite a resisting nine from John Birchall. Newly promoted Walkden Methodists have yet to make their mark and went down 27-2 to Meadow Ben B. Second-placed Polonia Club C suffered their first loss against Meadow Ben D 22-12 with Meadow Ben’s Neil Cowburn on nine. Third-placed Farnworth Social Circle C had an 18-10 win over Ladybridge C assisted by nines from Christopher Lord and Pete Walker, while Farnworth Social Circle D went down 23-10 to Irlam Steel Social Club who had nines from David Yates and Matt Hood.
