JOHN MONK - RIP

“It is with immense sorrow that we report of the recent passing of John Monk. He sadly passed away on the 9th December after a long battle with illness.
John was a top quality Premier player in the Southend League for many years and played for Thorpe Bay, Legra and Irons, amongst others.  He played in other local leagues too and also represented Essex on numerous occasions. John also possessed an excellent tactical brain and many players have benefited from his sound advice over the years.

He had many friends in the table tennis world and they will always remember his quick wit, fine banter and friendly nature. John enjoyed other sports too and was an avid Spurs fan. He was always willing to help others off the table too.
In recent times he had introduced his granddaughter to table tennis and was deriving great pleasure from helping with her progress.
Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and close friends at this sad time.”
