Match Report

Princes St B 3 Argyle B 7

Mini Match Report

Stalwart of the B team Dave Britton has been sidelined with a serious injury to his maximus gluteus for the rest of the season. Some people say he's always been a pain in the ass but that's a different story.

Similarly Martyn Coleman was unavailable "due to business " in London. This cryptic comment has led others to conclude that he is the new "M" in MI 6 but I couldn't possibly comment.

So in a crucial relegation fixture the remainder of the B team Dad's Army of Captain Roger and Ged were joined by new recruits fresh from the E team - Nick Foss and Andrew Armstrong.

Argyle's 2nd string of Mike McCormack , Monica Coogan , Allister and Angus Taylor were the opposition.

Andy got the B team off to a flying start with a superb 4 set win over Captain Angus .

Ged then took out son Allister to give the B team an amazing start and have them dreaming of the great escape.

Sadly reality then bit as Mike beat Roger and Monica beat Nick. This last defeat was particularly galling for Nick as he battled back from 2-0 down to lead 9-7 in the 5th only to serve off!

Next up 2nd doubles and an unexpected and comfortable win for the 2nd division pair of Nick and Andy against the Taylors.

It was all downhill from there for the Princes as they lost the next 5 games to lose 7-3.

There was some very good ping pong mostly from Mike in beating Ged ( who looked like he was still hungover from City's Wembly win the previous day ) , Monica in beating Roger and Allister prevailing against Andy.

The final game summed up the night and perhap's the Dad's Army season.

Nick lost to Angus , yet again in 5 , yet again 11-9 in the final game.

You know when it's not going to be your night or even your season. As Private Frazer in the real Dad's Army said " We are doomed , we are all doomed ".

Anyway look on the bright side lads - you will be favourites for promotion next season!
