Even more sad news

It is with sadness that we have to report that Bob Ramsdale died last Thursday.

Bob was a playing member and committee member for many years. He played for several teams, one of the first being at Standish Oddfellows with his brother and Jimmy Delaney. If any of you current players think the floor at St. Peter's is slippy, you should have seen that one!! He went on to play at Squirrel Inn, Manley Hotel, Oaktree Hotel and finally Heinz 57 Club.

Bob was a long standing committee member. He was League Secretary 1971-1973; Fixture Secretary 1983-1987 and President 1997-2000.He was not only long in the time he served the league but in size as well.He was probably the tallest man to play in W&DTTL. He was a decent player and his height made him even more difficult to play against.

It was always a pleasure to be in Bob's company, he had a great sense of humour and only stopped playing TT after suffering a heart attack whilst playing a few years ago.

The thoughts of all those who knew Bob and the rest of Wigan Table Tennis are with his family at this especially difficult time.

Bob's funeral will be at Charnock Richard Crematorium at 3.30 pm on Wednesday 2 January 2019. Afterwards at Wigan Subscription Bowling Club
