It is with deep regret that we inform you that George Heard passed away after a short illness on 5 May 2023 at the age of 96.

George played table tennis for many years in our league; originally for the Docks Staff club (for whom he became their League Secretary by the 1958/1959 season) and then for the Fromeside club. He also practiced regularly in his later years at the Thornbury club.

At the B&DTTA AGM on 21 May 1999 George was duly recognised as one of the first twenty-seven recipients of our league’s 50-year Award.
