Proposal for 40(a)

A club/team wishing to postpone a match should notify their opponents’ team captain at least 48 hours before the scheduled match time. If the notification is made within 48 hours of the scheduled match time the opposing team captain can decide whether to accept the request for a postponement or request a walkover. The opponent's team captain must be contacted on the email address or telephone number(s) that are in the current handbook or on the website or as previously notified as a change by the League Fixture Secretary, no previous contact details (from old handbooks) may be used. If an email is sent or a message left on an answer phone, then the postponing team should ask for an urgent acknowledgement of the communication. Should no confirmation from the opposing team captain be received within 48 hours of the original notification or within 24 hours of the scheduled match time (whichever comes first), then contact should be tried again by telephone, and the League Fixture Secretary notified
