Brian Pearson RIP

The Portishead Club is very saddened to report that Brian Pearson died yesterday after a year long battle with cancer.

Brian started playing in the Burnley league as a teenager before the call of national service.  After moving to Bristol he played at Knowle and Brislington for around four years.  He joined Portishead  in the mid-seventies and enjoyed 40 successful seasons as a formidable player with us.  Much respected and loved within the club and the wider Bristol table tennis community Brian was also a very capable administrator who had served as both treasurer and secretary at Portishead for many years.  Members will remember his bravery and resolve in attending our AGM just over a month ago.  Brian clearly wanted to see the handover of responsibilities smoothly undertaken.  Such was the determination and nature of the man.
