Division 4 League Report - 8th November 2018

ADTTA Div: 4   Report October/November 2018

Hamstreet’s Stuart Whorlow was POM by winning all of his games despite being taken to a close 5 game result against Ashford D’s Keith Young. Sportsmen C were unable to field a full team against Ruckinge G with Colin Healey managing to win just one game and the doubles with Alan Brand giving valuable points to the visitors. Ruckinge F’s Chris Penning maintains a clean sheet so far and, supported by Clive Wilkinson (3), gained a useful 7-2 victory over Hamstreet B, keeping their team top of the table. Sportsmen C’s woes continue, only able to field two players against Hamstreet B but valiant Colin Healey took all three of his games with some ease. Ruckinge G made the most of their journey over to Challock E by getting a very useful clean sweep keeping them hard on the heels of their Clubmates. Sportsmen C were at full strength against Ashford D and no doubt pleased to welcome back POM Trevor Cox who took all three of his games and partnered Colin Healey by winning the doubles to force a draw. Their match against Challock E didn’t go their way however, with POM Chris Hazelden (3) and supported by Don Stedman (2) and Michelle Chapman (1) to record a useful 6-4 win. Hamstreet B were just too good for Ashford D with POM Stuart Whorlow (3), David Smith (3) and Tim Woodhouse (1) and with Ashford managing to win the doubles to reduce the pain. Clubmates Ruckinge F & G played a hard fought match with the G Team up 5-4 in the singles, only to be frustrated by POM Chris Penning and Clive Wilkinson winning the doubles to force the draw. Ashford E youngsters have yet to record a win but no doubt learning much from the games they’ve played.
