Rugby A have opened up a 10 point gap at the top of Division 1 and have a game in hand over their nearest challenger. Their visit to Potters Green reaped an 8 point return with Matthew Outhwaite recording a hat-trick and the doubles with James Ward. Ward and Jesse Kendrick-Hill won two apiece with Aaron Riley and Ryan Stockham each claiming 1 in reply. Rugby B share bottom spot but mustered 4 valuable points against St Georges A. Ryan Lines, Danny and Sam Ricks all won once and Ryan and Danny took the doubles but Damon Fenton and Earl Sweeney made the match safe for the Spa team with triples. Free Church A moved up to 4th with a 6-4 success over County Council A. Tom Brocklehurst, Luke Hobbins and Chris Mulligan all took braces but could not get the better of Pat McCabe who took his 3 and the doubles with Phil Paine. Colebridge A trounced Rugby B 10-0 when Ian Ferguson, Alan Hewitt and Kate Hughes showed no mercy. Colebridge A also slammed their B team 9-1 with Michael Browne and Ferguson taking threes and Hughes a double.

Free Church B and Enigmas share top spot in Division 2 after recent 8-2 victories. Free Church C were the victims of Enigmas with Malcolm Macfarlane and Dong Wei unbeaten. Church B overcame Nomads A with Hugh Matthews in hat-trick form. Jeff Harris and Michael Ho added 2s. A tremendous treble from Pete Titmas helped secure a welcome draw for Eathorpe A for whom Andy Baruch added a single and paired with Titmas for the crucial doubles. Opponents, St Georges D, bounced back with doubles from Brian Aston and Kevin Finn plus a singles from Will Fletcher. Free Church C did their battle against relegation a power of good when they beat Phoenix 7-3. Solomon Hayes’s three plus doubles from Cherry Matthews and Anthony Smith ensured the win.

Top match in Division 3 was the clash between leaders Snitterfield A and second placed Free Church E with the villagers taking 8 points courtesy of Tim Fell 3, Stuart Ayres 2 and Rob Poole 2 plus the doubles. Third placed County Council C overcame strugglers Free Church F 7-3 with Tony Ford and Cliff Jackson refusing to be beaten. Mark Freeman added 1. Council C then drew their match with Flavels for whom Trevor Bradley posted an outstanding maximum, before partnering the other point scorer, Roger Potts, to the doubles. Free Church G have elevated themselves to the top half of the table and drew on their visit to Whitnash B. Sam Weaving and Sam Wiggins both won two with skipper Dudley Turner adding the vital 5th point but Len Coonan was in exquisite form for the home team winning his 3 and the doubles with Wilf Chan. Greg Swan was the other point scorer.

The progress of the two young sides at the bottom of Division 4 is very gratifying as both are taking the top teams close. Rugby E just fell to 3rd placed Ashorne A with Emma Kilpatrick recording an impressive treble and Milly Bradshaw winning once. Ashorne responded with doubles from Steve Bolton and Roger Kelley and a single from Chris Bowles, Kelley/Bowles the doubles. Free Church K similarly fell by the same score to Eathorpe B with Olivia Fletcher taking two excellent scalps, Jack Green winning once and the pair taking the doubles. Paul Deavall starred for the villagers with 3 wins.

Free Church J 7 (Tom Harris 1, Adam Pulman 1, Roger Plamer 1 +D +3 conceded) FC I 3 (Josh Wyatt-Smith 2, Joe Hunt 1).

FISCC have made a flying start to the Spring campaign in Division A, overwhelming Eathorpe C 5-0, Brian Marston and George Mudie unstoppable. Champions Free Church L edged Snitterfield C 3-2. Keith Knott and Tony Williams bagged a point apiece and the doubles but Henry Lu maintained his 100% record since September.

Relegated FC M made a determined start to life in Division B, seeing off Ashorne B 4-1. Ben King and Charlie Snelson only conceded the doubles. Eathorpe E look another strong side and William Apted’s 2 plus the doubles with Callum Pickering saw his team 3-2 winners against Free Church R. Phil Booth, making a come back to the sport, and Jill Weaving scored for Church.

St Georges F lead Division C taking Free Church Q 4-1. A double from Alex Wright and single from Kevin Rose plus the doubles amassed them 4 points with debutant Joe Mills avoiding the whitewash. Promoted Free Church T nailed their first win when last minute reserve Alice Todd claimed her two singles. Leyna Stanton nudged Church to the win. George Miller (1) and Harvey Cleary who took the doubles with Miller, look to have lots of potential.

The League’s youngest player, 9 year old Milly Green, marked her League debut with a win as Free Church U beat Free Church V 3-2 in Division D. Hugh Doody won his two to steer his team-mate to victory. Eathorpe G look the team to beat and made it two wins from two as they edged Free Church S 3-2. Jamie Sayer won twice and Leonardo Vargo-Elmiyeh once, Eve Briscoe, 1 plus the doubles with Sophie Bethell replying. Free Church S also went down 2-3 to their W team despite Jenny Singleton winning her two. W came back with wins from Elaine Bradley and Carolyn Dorning and took the vital doubles.
