Aberdeen & District TT Association is delighted that John McDonald of Peterhead TTC has been appointed to this part-time post to take over from Rob Barsby. The post is funded for the next 2 years jointly by Sport Scotland under their Direct Club Investment scheme and by the local recruitment firm Strategic Resources.

The aim is to develop table tennis in community groups, clubs and schools and to help to set up TT sessions for all ages from juniors through league players to pensioners. Age is no barrier! Pathways are available for talented youngsters, with regular coaching sessions now being held at the Garioch Sports Centre in Inverurie, but we also recognise the importance of TT as a pastime giving healthy exercise and social opportunities to many people of all ages.

John will cover the North Aberdeenshire area from the Moray Firth down to Ellon. He is keen to hear from any group which would like to develop TT in their community and will offer advice on venues, funding and equipment as well as give practical coaching when he has the time.

Dave Lomax will continue in the same development role in the South Aberdeenshire area and together we are sure that table tennis will make further progress in the Northeast of Scotland!
