In Division One, Chris Cattell took a comfortable maximum for Vulcan ‘B’ during the visit of Crookes ‘B’. Martin Green took a brace and teamed up with Cattell to secure a 6-4 win. Ian Burnell faired best for the visitors with wins over Green and Terry Charles.

Andrew and Stephen Horsfield took their sixth men’s doubles title having won their first, twenty six years ago! In a marathon final they overcame the Crookes’ pairing of Mark Short and Pete Morgan 14-12 in the decider.

Five time former Sheffield champion Mark Short (Crookes) heads the list of seeds for the Sheffield closed “Open Singles” event at the 81st championships, sponsored by Redtooth Entertainment.

Mick Thorley passed away peacefully in Dewsbury hospital on Monday 25th February, he was 76 years old.

Mick and Pat were married for 48 years and have two children – daughter Sally and son Paul. They are also grandparents to Callum, William and Charlotte.
