Division 1

White Horse stayed in home pastures this week when Plan B visited. From the off, the hosts made good headway and looked as though they would show the visitors a clean set of heels as David Bryant claimed the player of the match award for his singles maximum. Andy Godfrey kept his head down and added 5 more sets before Jamie Robertson came in with the final 3. The doubles were keenly contested as the going got harder but White Horse stayed in contention with 5 sets, bringing their match total to 22.

Plan B had a positive start when they won the first toss. Thereafter they initially fell behind until gaining ground in the middle of the contest. Martin Shoots claimed the longest rally of the evening and the highest score for the visitors with 7 singles sets. Geoff Williams was in close support with 6 sets. Andrew Miles kindly substituted for the injured Robin Arkell and put in a sterling performance with his new bat to claim 3 singles sets. The whole match then hinged on the last doubles game of the evening which was poised at 2 sets apiece. In a nail-biting grandstand finish, Plan B came up on the rails to pip their rivals at the post to win the final set on the Nod, giving Plan B 7 doubles sets in total and a final winning score of 23 points.

Division 2

Waterrow hosted the second match of their campaign at the Lawns against Minehead based Wanderers. Eamon Farrelly put in a strong performance for the home team as his maximum earned him the player of the match award. Singles sets were hard to come by for the rest of the evening with Russell Foote scoring the remaining 2. Both teams equally contested the doubles, where Keiron Dickson-Squire joined his teammates to win 7 sets. The final score for Waterrow ended at 18.

Wanderers played consistently throughout the match and Steve Brooks led the way with 8 singles sets. Cas Chalk gave the strongest performance of his career as both he and Laurie Chalk added 6 singles sets apiece. With the doubles tied at 7 sets each, Wanderers ended the evening the victors with 27 points.
