Match Report

It is true that you only realise how boring you are after completing an online dating profile.

It is also true that a fast , long , no spin serve to  material invariably produces a third ball suitable for attack.

Nello Mauri used this tactic to some effect last night ( March 29th ) to register Blazing Paddles only success against The Pasties during his five set victory over combination bat player Jason Rainey.

Mike Credland was Player Of The Match for The Pasties , the flinty Cornishman mercilessly inflicted an 11-0 drubbing on Nello in the first set of the evening, an advantage immediately nullified when he dropped the second to deuce. It was to be the only end he dropped all evening , in an otherwise polished performance.

The final doubles set was the only other match to go to the full distance , the Pasties pairing of Rainey and Mike Evetts scraped home by the finest of margins , in an end in which Paddles duo of Chris Dickens and Nello failed to capitalise on their leads , including a match point in the fifth.

Penholder Wilf Chan completed the Paddles trio , he will have more rewarding evenings , simply being a few points off the pace in his matches, fine margins are often the difference between success and failure.

An enjoyable Maundy Thursday evening which allowed plenty of post match time to join the merry throng at The Colebrook quiz night.
