Division 1
Gnomads completed their season this week with their final match at home to Roy’s Boys. Gnomads started slowly before pulling ahead of their visitors. Martin Rant led the way and his maximum earned him the player of the match award. Nigel Foster had to work hard for his 6, and a solid 5 singles points were added by Steve Wells. The deciding factor in this clash was the unopposed maximum that Gnomads scored in the doubles. This took their score to 29 and a comfortable fourth place in division 1.
Well done for achieving a strong finish and for completing all your matches on time.
Roy’s Boys started well, and it was Di Garner’s pimples that caused her opponents the most problems as she top-scored with 7. Barry Hooper scored 6 after two gruelling 5-set games. Roy Hooper added the final 3 singles points to conclude the team’s scoring. With no success in the doubles, Roy’s Boys ended the evening with 16 points, moving them out of the relegation zone, with games in hand.
