Results Week 20

Title holders Wiveliscombe require just 21 points from their 2 remaining matches to secure the First Division championship for the sixth consecutive season.

Runners up elect – Basement Dwellers pushed Wivi all the way in their two title deciding fixtures.  John Edbrooke recorded fine maximums in both ties but was put under terrific pressure by veteran Rod Richards.  Richards performed heroically going down 14-16 and 7-11 in the fifth set of each game against Edbrooke.  In their home match Dwellers went down 21-27.  David Woodland provided Edbrooke with strong support taking 6 points from wins over Richards and Paul Rees.  Richards and Vince Court took 6 singles points each for Dwellers.

The encounter at Wiveliscombe was even closer with Wivi coming out on top by just 5 points.  Man of The Match Richards took 8 singles points for Dwellers which included superb wins over Dave Woodland and Paul Nutkins.

Eddie Ferris and Martin Rant both scored maximums for Gnomads against Roys Boys.  Nigel Foster was denied his maximum by a 10-12 fifth set defeat to Barry Hooper.

White Horse improved their chances of taking the second division title with a 29-21 home win over Tonys Troopers.  In a match of no maximums Ian Rew and Colin White scored 8 singles points each for White Horse.  Their maximums were denied by fifth set defeats to Sifa Vea and Tony Burrows respectively.

Tonys Troopers title hopes were further dented as they went down 22-24 at House Martyns.  Man of The Match Joseph Burt secured the victory for the juniors with a

superb maximum which included a fifth set win over Sifa Vea.
