Good week for league teams

A good week all round for Thornbury's league teams, as we recorded 3 wins and 2 draws.

In the Bristol & District Premier Division, TTTC A held on for a draw against high flying Nailsea Panthers. Once again, Anthony showed the way by winning all 3 of his singles. Tom and Julz each won one of theirs, so going into the last match of the evening, the doubles, there was a chance of an overall victory. However, the Nailsea pair proved too consistent and took the match to level it up at 5-5. Not bad as we are still without Emily who is currently recovering from illness. Come back soon Em!!

TTTC B drew their Division One match against Cleeve and Claverham. Julz and Ian with 2 singles each and then combining to win the doubles. Grampy had chances in his games but unfortunately could not convert these to wins. However, his improvement continues in what is only his second season playing at this level. Onwards and upwards.............just like his forehand loop!!

Onto the Stroud & District league fixtures........

In Division One, TTTC A recorded a resounding 9-1 win against Cirencester to remain at the top. Dave and Len both won their 3 singles. Ian with 2, though he did team up with Dave to take the doubles. Big match this evening as 1st plays 2nd when we visit Woodchester A. Expect fireworks!!

TTTC B beat Forest Green B 7-3, with Gavin showing the way winning his three, closely followed by Mark with 2 and Simon with 1. Gavin then completed the full house by joining Mark in a Doubles win. This sees the team sitting in 4th place in the league but the top 2 is not outside of their reach if this form continues.

TTTC C (Team Rubbish) beat Whiteshill Vets C 6-4 in Division 3 to move into 2nd place behind leaders Pheonix D. Star on the night was Stephen Biles who won all 3 of his singles before partnering Grampy to a doubles victory. Grampy won 2 of his 3 singles (I'll not add his description of his performance in the match he lost!!) with Craig just coming up short in his battles. A good performance, which will hopefully cheer the walking wounded...........get well soon Len and Trace
