With the top two teams from last season, NA Buzzards & NA Batmen, sitting out the first week it was down to the rest to set the early pace at the top of the first division.  Torbay Academy 1 went straight to the top of the table and will be difficult to dislodge! Their impressive 10-0 win over NA Condors a sign of things to come as Patrik Cincala alongside youngsters Kacper Piwowar and Alessandro Mitranescu were never in any trouble against the experienced Condors.  NA Eagles travelled to Brixham to face a new looking Sharks, however it was the original Shark who halted the Eagles, Clive Banham picking up a couple of sets early on. With Mark Burridge remaining unbeaten on the night the Eagles went on to win the last six sets to earn an 8-2 victory.  The battle between the two Halwell sides was as close as ever, the B side just beating the A side 6-4 thanks to a Dave Wadling maximum.

NA Owls and Torre Titans battled it out at the top of the second division last season all the way to the final match, the Owls narrowly winning to take the title. With both sides losing their top player to the first division this season they are unlikely to be so prominent this time out, but they still put on an excellent display as they met in the first match of the season. The Owls, with Curtis Sage going really well, came back from 1-4 down to lead going into the final doubles, which the Titans won 11-9 in the fifth. A 5-5 draw a fair result, with all the players contributing with a win.   In an all Newton Abbot affair the Falcons just edged out the Raptors 6-4, Chris Scriven on debut was undefeated, supported well by Josh Redfern making a welcome return with a couple of singles wins.
