PRESS REPORT – Sunday 28th Nov

There was a second defeat for the current champions and leaders of the First Division, NA Batmen, as they lost out 6-3 to Torbay Academy 1. Young Kacper Piwowar with a fine maximum on his first appearance of the season for the Academy was well supported by Alessandro Mitranescu and Esmeralda Suarez.  A Tim Burridge maximum helped NA Eagles defeat Halwell A 6-3 and Dave Wadling was undefeated as Halwell’s B team edged past their A team 5-4.

The second division has new leaders as NA Owls hit the top spot for the first time following their 7-2 victory over Torbay Academy 2.  Giles Tushingham still to be beaten this season recorded his fifth maximum to date for the Owls.

The top match in the third division saw the leaders NA Hawks defeated for the first time. They lost out in an exciting encounter 5-4 to second placed Torre Panthers who won the last two singles to clinch the victory. All 6 players contributed with wins with no-one winning all 3!  An Elsa Perry maximum were the only points her Torbay Academy 3 side won as they lost out to club mates Academy 4.

In a poor week for the Division’s top sides, the pattern continued in the fourth division as the leaders Torbay Academy 5 were beaten by Torre Thunder 5-4. New signing Charun Tatom with another maximum for the Thunder.  The youngsters of Torbay Academy 5 did however pick up a win against their Academy 6 stable mates, William Whittington with a maximum for the 5^th team as they won the close encounter 5-4.
