PRESS REPORT – Sunday 8th Dec 

In the First Division NA Batmen, with an excellent all-round team of Naomi Jackson, Dennis and Shaun Gibbs, secured their third maximum in a row when they defeated the Brixham Pirates 10-0 without dropping a leg. The Batmen have opened up a six point gap ahead of clubmates the Buzzards and Torbay Academy 1 who are joint second.  The Academy 1 team of Patrik Cincala, Lenard Hernandez and Warren Ngai were too strong for Brixham Gulls as they also whitewashed their opponents.  It was a much tighter affair at Brixham as NA Buzzards visited the Sharks. The Buzzards’ Kevin Nicholls took his three singles and supported well by Herbie Sage and Sonja Ryland they defeated the Sharks 6-4.

Leaders of the second division, NA Falcons, lost for the second week in a row going down 6-4 to the still unbeaten Denbury Tykes, Paul Hine collecting another maximum for the Tykes. Helen Glover’s movement and consistent attack saw her to an impressive maximum for Marldon as they defeated Taverners 6-4. Helen was joined by ‘Grandad’ George Breyley in the all-important final doubles which they won 12-10 in the fifth to take the match.  Marldon Tykes collected their first win this season with a narrow 6-4 win over Torbay Academy 3, The Academy’s Matt Cooper had a maximum but the Tykes all-round team effort saw them to victory. Torbay Academy 3’s youngsters are moving up the table, their latest victory a 7-3 win over NA Hawks, Kacper Piwowar and Alessandro Mitranescu were again unbeaten for the Academy.  Brixham Trawlers recorded a 6-4 victory at Newton Abbot against NA Kestrels.

Torre Titans take over at the top of the third division by virtue of the games they’ve won as they are level on points with NA Owls. The Titans, with Tony Nguyen undefeated, beat Torbay Academy 4, 8-2. While clubmates NA Harriers wrestled three points from their encounter with NA Owls, Josh Redfern picking up the man of the match award.  Hasbeens stay in the mix at the top with a fine 9-1 victory over Brixham Dolphins, Mike Wickens and Alan Tyrrell with maximums for the Hasbeens.

In the fourth division Henry Greet collected another maximum as he helped his NA Ospreys side defeat NA Vultures 8-2 in an all Newton Abbot affair. At Torbay Academy the points were shared between Academy 7 and NA Merlins
