ALBANY FLORISTS-SPONSORED SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

The top three teams all had comfortable wins in the First Division.  Leaders Torbay Academy 1, resting skipper Kris Piwowar, still came away from Halwell with a 9-1 win; Grzeg Wojtowicz and Patrik Cincala were unbeaten for the Academy, while Halwells’ Dave Wadling prevented the whitewash.  Second-placed NA Batmen went one better, defeating the Academy 2 side 10-0. Dennis and Shaun Gibbs, alongside Kelvin Cheung, dropped just 3 games on the night. Brixham Sharks saw off Dawlish Aces 7-3, with Clive Banham and Adam Shipway taking maximums for the Sharks.

Division 2 leaders NA Eagles stuttered to a narrow 6-4 victory over the struggling Taverners, although Colin Harrop and Martin Dilkes troubled the Eagles team, again proving there is nothing much between the top and bottom sides in this Division.

NA Hawks’ whitewash win at Brixham Diamonds stretches their lead  slightly at the top of the Third Division  as 2nd placed Torbay Academy 4 dropped a couple of points in their 8-2 win over NA Falcons.  Jakub Piwowar and Ben Hoare took maximums for the Academy.  Third-placed Denbury Tykes stay in contention, with the Darch father and son combination helping them to an 8-2 victory at Hasbeens.  Dawlish Diamonds move off the foot of the table as they also inflicted a defeat on the Hasbeens; Martin Charlesworth and Bruce Freeman were in fine form as the Dawlish outfit won 7-3. The Dawlish Diamonds also picked up 4 valuable points in a narrow 4-6 defeat against Brixham Dolphins.

Although not beaten, Division 4 leaders Torbay Academy 5, lost their 100% win record, being held to a draw against NA Ospreys. The Newton Abbot side’s inspirational leader, Dale Fabian, gained a maximum for the Ospreys. The Academy 5 side did however convincingly beat Dawlish Drifters 9-1, with Bubai Roy securing a maximum on his debut, and Harrison Grainger also unbeaten. Drifters’ Ian Gurmin prevented the whitewash.  Second-placed Torre Tigers had a good 8-2 win at Kites, with Stephen Tucker again unbeaten for the Tigers.  Lucas Bradshaw, with another man of the match performance, helped his Academy 6 side to a narrow 6-4 win at Torres R Us.  Travis Graham and Rob Bayliss were in fine form as they helped the NA Owls to an 8-2 win at Brixham over the Swifts.
