A hard fought match which took Cliff to win the doubles to secure a narrow victory. Paul Cronin picked up a maximum for Cliff but was taken to five by Tim Vaughan who must have thought he was going to repeat the heroics of last season, halting Paul from his 100% record! but the Cliff player is a class act, and so it proved winning 11,7 in the decider. Wayne Youngs and Wayne Matthews picked up braces for Sturdee with Wayne Youngs just edging it 15,13 in the fifth against Alan Longhurst.  Chris Drury and Alan defeated Tim, and Chris and Paul teamed up in the doubles against the Waynes, to win in four close legs
