Rainham 2 needed just the one point from their final match against Luton 2 to avoid bottom spot in Div One, but in the end managed 5, so finish the season in 7th. Mike Ingram has beaten some much higher graded players this season but has had to wait until this final match to get his first hatrick. He was too good on the night for Ian Sayer, Mick Barber and Dave Hopkins. With teammates John Coleman and Mick Hambelton also getting the better of Barber (in 4 and 5 legs respectively), Rainham went into the Doubles with a 5-4 lead before the Hopkins/Sayer combination secured the draw. This was a repeat of the result when these two sides met earlier in the campaign. Luton finish the season comfortably in mid table.
