Having lost 2-8 when these two sides met back in September, Boxley 1 were surprised to find themselves leading 6-2. The home side rallied with Peter Mortley beating Barry Roles in the last singles and then teaming up with Andy Larner to keep their 100% Doubles record although requiring a 5th leg to do so. Earlier, Mortley had also beaten Lyndon Gurr but lost for only the 2nd time this season to Gary Hentschel 10-12 in the deciding leg. This defeat might mean a rest for Mortley's "lucky shorts" for the next match. Mike Kemlo stopped Hentshel's hatrick bid and was on course for a 2nd win until Gurr staged a gritty comeback from 2 legs adrift. Larner lost all his single encounters but did push Hentschel all the way with some great attacking play in the 3rd and 4th legs before running out of ammunition.
