Competitive Table Tennis made a welcome return after 18 long Covid months at Blue Bell Village Hall as hosts Boxley 1 played Cliffe Woods 2 in the first Division 1 fixture of the 2021/22 season. Woods' were somewhat flattered by the 8-2 victory as six of the ten games went to a deciding leg all won by the away side. It was not until the 6th game of the evening when Boxley were able to get their first point on the board courtesy of Gary Hentschel's defeat of Mike Kemlo, a feat repeated in the final singles of the evening by Lyndon Gurr. Hentschel and Gurr then let a 2 leg lead slip in the Doubles to the Dave Lewis/Kemlo combination which rather summed up Boxley's evening. Peter Mortley pipped teammate Lewis for the Man of the Match Award both recording hard fought trebles.
