Upnor B win CST in closely fought final

Upnor B secured their first victory in the Charles Stampe Trophy final on Monday, 28th May. This was a very closely fought contest with only one point separating the teams at the half-way stage. The Gannet trio of David Aluko, Liam Coake and Sean Durkin put up a tremendous fight against their Division One opponents. David Gracey, Emmanuel Bayode and Marylyn Dudgeon proved a little too strong in the end. The difference between the two sides was the exceptional performance once again, of Emmanuel Bayode (Upnor B) who gained 16 pts on the night. Sean Durkin (Gannet) had an excellent win 42-33 over Marylyn Dudgeon. Liam Coake also defeated Marylyn 44-42 in game 6.

When Dave Gracey and Liam Coake went to the table in the final game there were only 8 pts between the sides. Dave managed a 21-9, 21-13 final game to steer Upnor B to their victory.

As usual our sincere thanks are extended to Gareth Fox for all his hard work organising this event and to Malcom Kay and John Clark who umpired every game in the final. Plus of course, the Stampe sisters for kindly presenting the trophies.
