Chatham Cumberland 378
Rainham 2 305
The Chatham Cumberland trio of Johann Le, Maxwell Antrim and Daniel Gubala had a successful night at Blue Bell Hill Village Hall in the final of the Jim Bradford Consolation Trophy. They had won the CST for the previous couple of years and were competing for the first time in the Jim Bradford event against Rainham 2. Meanwhile, Rainham were making their second appearance in the final which started in 2022.
Cumberland got off to a flying start as Johann Le recorded a 21-10, 21-9 result against Tim Davie and Cumberland had a 17-point lead. Maxwell Antrim added a further 7 in game 2 winning well against Mick Hambelton. Daniel Gubala’s match with John Coleman was equally as impressive as he won by 13 points. Tim Davie's night became worse as he went down 21-8, 21-9 to Antrim and now Rainham had a 58-point deficit.
Rainham rallied in the later matches, notably John Coleman as he won their only game on the night by 9 points over Johann Le and lost by just 1 point to Maxwell Antrim.
Johann, Maxwell and Daniel have certainly made great progress as they now compete in the Premier and all their hard work is paying off.
Our thanks are extended to Gareth Fox for organising this event and also Malcolm Kay and John Clark for umpiring the final.
