John Carr - Chairman Sittingbourne League

It is with great sadness we have to report the recent death of John Carr who was the Chairman of Sittingbourne League and Secretary of Sheerness East TTC.

Below is an extract from a message sent to all Sittingbourne players:

Some of you will be aware that less than 3 months ago John was taken ill whilst on holiday and taken to a local hospital. He spent a short time there and was then transferred to Medway Maritime to become an outpatient at 'Kings'

Unfortunately after an MRI scan he was told that there was a tumour in his head which was inoperable and he was later discharged to home. He appeared to be making progress, even visiting the club and having short knocks on the table. Being fully aware of his situation, and being John we then set about looking to the future and started organising that.

Unfortunately time was not on our side and he appeared to pick up an infection, resulting in antibiotics, however he deteriorated to the extent that he elected to go to a hospice, which happened last week. Sadly on Thursday night he passed away.

Funeral details will be circulated once known.
