Hartlepool Westbourne A closed the gap at the top of Division 1 of the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League last week when they defeated the team in second place, Nunthorpe B, by 7-3.

The two teams at the top of Division Two of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League won their matches this week by big margins so increasing their lead at the top of the table.

Savage’s hat-trick was convincing as he won two of his sets in straight games and then beat Williams by 3-1.

Having won all of their first six matches Northfield A are at the top of Division 2 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League.  In last weeks fixtures Northfield  A beat Beaumont Nomads B by 8-2 with hat-tricks from Tom Webster and David Drummond.

The match was hard fought and close in several of the sets.  David Ashwell took Joe Cope to 5 games before Cope won at 11-5 in the decider. Thomas Rayner stretched David Gofton to win 11-5 in the deciding game.

Northfield A took an early lead in Division 2 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League when they scored a convincing win over Darlington Dolphins B by 10 sets to 0.  Tommy Webster, Gary Whittle and David Drummond all scored convincing hat tricks.

Also in the 1st Division Ormesby C had a convincing win against the club’s D team by 9 sets to 1 with Chrissie Edwards and Ryan Nassau both scoring hat tricks.  Alex Wilson won 2 before losing to John McCullow.

Ormesby A enjoyed their second win when they visited the Westbourne club from Hartlepool in the Cleveland and District Table Tennis League

Joe and Jack Cope plus Ben Piggott all scored hat tricks. The closest match was when Jack Cope beat Jimmy Scope by 11-5 in the deciding game.

These two results mean that Ormesby A win the title from Ormesby B by 4 points.

Northfield B maintained their interests in the Championship with a very comfortable 10-0 victory over Ormesby F.
