Barrow defeat Kendal to clinch promotion

Barrow Veterans 2nd team clinched promotion to the Lancashire and Cheshire Veterans first division on Saturday by defeating Kendal 1st team by 7 games to 3.
In a cracking, closely fought encounter at Crook Village Hall Tony Whitehouse and Alan Turner excelled to win all their matches and were ably supported by Keith Mallinson who stepped up from the 3rd team.
Kendal’s team of John Fearon, Phil Swift and John Howarth congratulated the Barrow side and wished them all the best next season in the higher league.
Congratulations also go to other squad members Steve Bushell and Andy Murphy who, over the course of the season, helped secure this memorable promotion.
