Drinkhall knocked out in Bulgaria

Paul Drinkhall’s interest in the Bulgaria Open was ended at the first hurdle by Japan’s Asuka Machi.

The England No 1 was seeded sixth for the event in Panagyurishte but was defeated in the last 32 by the world No 93.

In the doubles, Drinkhall competed alongside Scotland’s Gavin Rumgay but, following a walkover in the first preliminary round, they were defeated by Indian pair Harmeet Desai & Arjun Ghosh in the second preliminary round.
