Shottery A opened up an eight point lead at the top of the table by defeating their closest rivals Stratford A. Gary Stewart and Tristan Gretton each recorded braces, as well as combining to claim the doubles with an 11-9 victory in the fifth set. Graham Poole added Shottery's crucial sixth point the hard way by claiming the decider against Richard Grover. However none of the Shottery players were able to get the better of the hosts' Pete Barrow who recorded an excellent treble, but his team only able to add one further success from Alex Boyd.
Simultaneously, on the adjacent table, Shottery A overcame Stratford B 9-1. Stewart and Gretton produced perfect performances, and Stephen Foster earned a brace although he was unable to overcome Boyd who played in both matches.
Stratford C also lost 9-1 when they travelled to Ashorne where Rob Bartkowski's victory ensured they didn't go home entirely empty handed. Len and Andy Coonan notched trebles for the villagers, with Mark Bridgeman adding a brace.
It was an unfortunate week for the club as Stratford D were defeated without reply at Blazing Paddles for whom Nello Mauri, Chris Dickens and Wilf Chan were all untroubled despite a gallant effort from the newcomers which produced a match featuring many excellent rallies.
High flying Snitterfield also inflicted the whitewash upon Shottery B with Clive Irwin, Steve Cull and Phil Paine conceding a total of just two ends.
George Mudie won the opening set for Veterans when they were entertained by Colebridge Pasties, but after that the hosts imposed a clean sweep with Mike Credland, Mahroof Hussain and Bob Brown all producing perfect performances.
Colebridge Bulldogs were the fourth league team to secure a 10-0 victory when their trio of John Taylor, Dean Hicks and Chris Welsh took the honours at JLM Kingfishers. However Henry Clarke was unlucky not to salvage some reward for the hosts after taking a two set lead against Welsh, only to lose the next two ends at deuce and fall at the final hurdle in the only encounter to go the full distance.
Peter Quince and Nigel Payne were unbeaten as Henley won 8-2 at Tanworth Taipans, although the latter was taken to a decider by Mick Welsh. Dave Hatcher added their eighth point, with Welsh and Tim Lawrence getting on the card for Taipans.
