WINTER LEAGUE 15-16 WEEK 21 REPORT

Division 1

Hockley A extended their lead at the top of the Division and are looking good to take the title with a 10 point lead. This week they won 8-1 against Canvey A. Tim Pang and Matt Stringer took 3 each with Liam Squirrell, playing up from the B team,  adding two, the consolation point for Canvey earned by Terry Giddens, in a close 5 setter, winning 12-10 in the final end.

Customs A kept pace also with an 8-1 win over Hadleigh Forum B. Dale Gutteridge and Roy Thomas were both unbeaten for Customs, with two for Dave Morgan, with Tony Jacks picking up the only win for the Forum team.

Hullbridge C were made to fight hard for a 5-4 win over Hockley B and were indebted to a maximum form Andy Seaman and two from Bill Smith.  Keith Abbott put up a good performance scoring two for the Hockley side but even with a game in hand, it looks as though the title challenge may have ended for the Hullbridge team.

Rawreth E continued their poor start to 2016 with another 5-4 loss this time to Lentern C. Mike Grout did the main damage being unplayable on the night and was supported from Chris Crooks, returning from injury, with two to take the points. Colin Clements scored two for the Rawreth team.

Hadleigh Forum C had a fine 8-1 win piling on the misery to bottom club Runnymede. Graham Farmer and Tony Mace were both unbeaten with the extra two points added by Mark Everard, losing the only game to Dmitry Kisil.

Warehouse B lost a close encounter 5-4 against Lentern E despite Andrew Paton scoring a maximum for the Warehouse team. Lentern’s strength in depth told in the match with two each from Phil Puckey and Mark Jupe.

Finally, Invicta A scored a narrow 5-4 victory over Lentern D, steve Marr with 3 and Neil daines with 2 making up the points for Invicta, despite a battling two from Peter Pond.
