WINTER LEAGUE 15-16 WEEK 18 REPORT

Division 1

Hockley A extend their lead at the top of the table with another good win against close rivals Rawreth E by 7-2. Tim Pang scored a convincing hattrick and was ably supported with two wins each from Dave Colwill and Matt Stringer. Mike Worship put up the resistance for Rawreth with two wins but was unable to overcome Tim, keeping them in fifth position in the table and now dropping away from the two leaders.

Customs A won by the same margin, 7-2, over Lentern D to keep up the pressure and remain in second place. Roy Thomas and a POTM performance from Dave Morgan with three apiece scored the lion’s share of the points for Customs.

Hullbridge C were without a game so are now 10 points behind Customs with a game in hand and will need a maximum to keep in touch.

Hadleigh Forum B used the opportunity to close the gap with a hard-fought 6-3 win over their C team. As expected, Russ Bright put up the most resistance for the C team scoring two good wins, but was unable to overcome Mick Tappenden on the night who put up a spirited performance to bag all of his three games, despite being 2-1 down to Russell. Tony Jacks added two for the B side to keep up his consistent form and averages.

Invicta A put in a good allround team performance to win 6-3 at Lentern C. All the team members consisting of Mike Piper, Steven Marr and Neil Daines scored two each, but no-one was able to overcome Mike Grout who scored all three for Lentern.

In the final submitted game for this week, Lentern E scored a 7-2 victory over Runnymede to pull themselves clear of the relegation zone. Mark Jupe with three wins was POTM, ably supported by Brian Spencer and Wayne Farmer with two apiece. Tony Millward, returning from injury, scored the two consolation points for Runnymede, but this still leaves them second from bottom.
