Southend Hardbat Championships

Several of you have already entered the Southend Hard Bat Championships: if you haven’t, it’s worth giving it a go (in our October News Letter the wrong date was inadvertently shown, it all should be as follows)

DATE:  Saturday 7th November 2015

@ The Hullbridge Sports Association

Lower Road, Hullbridge

Commencing @ 8.30 am sharp

Entry Fee £ 5.00 (covering all events entered)

·         Every year, a group of around 30 players Enter and have a great time

·         Its starts at 8.30 am. and normally finishes mid-afternoon (well at least for the Winners!!)

·         Bill Smith runs this Event and we all know, when Bill runs something, he puts his heart & sole into it, it’s always enjoyed by all

·         There is usually an Open Singles, A Drawn Doubles and a Plate Tournament

·         Everyone gets plenty of games

·         All play with identical Bats (so no advantage there) and, at the end of each Set, you leave your Bat at that end and take over the bat at the other end that your opponent used

·         Normally Sets are up to 15, with no Deuces, but all depends on the size of Entry and Time available

·         The Evening  Entertainment  starts at 7.00 for a 7.30 start.  John Lott, of the Lentern Table Tennis Club, will be running a Sing Along Evening, when he will be Singing our 60s Favourites: last year ‘Bill’ also did a half hour slot: great fun and all proceeds go to Key Hole Surgery at the Southend General Hospital. Cost for the Evening is £4.00 (but, as it’s all for a very good cause, several paid £5.00 last year as their Donation - your choice)

To enter the Southend Hardbat Championships, please email Bill Smith, as soon as possible, to let him that you would like to enter.      Please email Bill on billsmith1946@hotmail.co.uk

(For late entries, you can call or text Bill on his Mobile No. 07505 107110 but preferably an email

As said above, the Championships' Entry Fee is £5.00 (Pay on the day, to Jayne or myself, at the Control Desk, or pay Bill when you see him.

Hope to see a lot of you there

Best wishes

Ken
