Division 2

Fresh from her success in winning the SDTTL Division 2 Restricted competition at last weekend’s Closed Championships, Hullbridge F’s Zoe Davies, followed up with an unbeaten night on her team’s visit to leaders Invicta A. Daniel Payne contributed two more for the visitors as they recorded a shock 5 – 4 win. Michael Piper scored two of Invicta’s points.

Maximums from Paul Strutt, Brian Bissenden and Tony Vassallo ensured second place Hockley B recorded a comprehensive 9 – 0 win over lowly Castle Point C.

Despite losing the first two matches of a long evening with many close matches, Warehouse C were too strong for visitors Basildon Hospital. A hat trick from Tarun Goel, two from Gordon Child and one from Micky Baker saw the home team run out 6 – 3 winners. Kevin Smart bagged two of the visitors’ points.

Canvey C had Peter Cray and Gordon Johnstone to thank for their away win at Castle Point B. Each gained three wins in a 7 – 2 victory.

A Darren Squirrall maximum saw Hockley C 6 – 3 winners at home to Hullbridge E. Liam Squirrall scored two and Keith Abbott one. David Booroff scored two for the visitors.

A Phil Digby hat trick gave Runnymede B a win at RESSC. Two each for Steve Giles and Anne Adlington ensured a 7 – 2 win. Sarah Mapes grabbed both points for the home team.

Division 3

Shelley Woolley played her last game for Invicta B before heading north to Yorkshire, and despite winning two her team went down 5-4 Warehouse D. Dave Walton with 3 and Steve Bottom with 2 for Warehouse were the difference with many games going to 5 sets. We wish Shelley and Roger all the very best in their move, unfortunately not ending on a winning note. Hullbridge G had a good 6-3 win over Hockley F with Daniel Zeffie, Adam Jackman and Kieran Stanley all recording two wins, but no-one was able to overcome Jon Knight who scored the three for Hockley. Canvey D also recorded a 6-3 win over Customs B, with Stuart Curham and youngster Ross Warner both unbeaten for the island side, Ross particularly playing well.
