Performance of the week has to go to Keith Adams who won all of Rawreth B's points in their 6-3 defeat to Thorpe Bay A. Keith completed a hat-trick of impressive wins over Paul Sayer, Paul Whatton and John Monk. A Duncan Taylor maximum backed up by a win a piece from the two Steve's (like the two Ronnie's, just not as funny) Maltby and Sawyer saw Rayleigh Mill squeak past Hullbridge B 5-4. Two wins each for Fred Dove and Ian Rattray on the night. A good battle between relegation rivals Warehouse A and Hullbridge C saw Warehouse run out 6-3 winners with Graham Hurry (Hullbridge) winning a tight 5 setter over Kim Shead and losing a nail biter to hat trick winner Martin West. Hadleigh Forum were on the wrong side of the same 6-3 scoreline against Rawreth C with a maximum from Reece Seddon backed up by two and one win from Dave Colwill and Ben Matthews respectively In the final two games this week there were much closer matches than the scorelines suggest as Castle Point A met Hullbridge A and Rawreth D took on Lentern A. Hullbridge and Lentern took the matches 9-0 but many of the games went to a deciding leg so the scorelines could have been very different Duncan

Lentern C took advantage this week to close the ground with a 7-2 win over Invicta A. Mike Grout winning three was ably supported by Brian Farmer and Chris Crooks with two each, but neither could beat Steve Marr for the visitors who scored their two points. Rawreth E continued their resurgence with an 8-1 demolition of Warehouse B. Steve Buer and Colin Clements scoring maximums and Justin Jeffery with two got the points for Rawreth, with Berti saving the blushes. Canvey A won a close game with Lentern E thanks to an unbeaten night by Ray Wilson. Mike Worship and Brian Spencer scored two each for the losers but neither could get the better of Ray. Final game received was a 9-0 win for Customs A over Lentern D. Roy Thomas, Dale Gutteridge and Brian Rackham all unbeaten for the Customs men with only one game going to 5 sets Barrie

Runnymede were comfortable winners at home to Rawreth F. Tony Coeshall won all his games and was well supported by two each from Barbara O’Brien and Phil French. Jan Thorpe got both the visitors’ wins. Canvey C gave a first outing of the season to Rob MacDonald. His single win, with a maximum from Gordon Johnstone and one from Alex Taylor, were sufficient to give the islander a 5 – 4 home win against Hullbridge F. Tony Molisso won two of Hullbridge’s points. Top team Hockley B continued their winning ways with a 7 – 2 demolition of Wakering. Dennis Squirrell and Matthew Stringer again recorded hat tricks, whilst Stewart Mills and Cliff Noakes got one point each for Wakering. Paul Ogden’s two wins were not enough for Hullbridge E as they went down 7 – 2 at home to Runnymede. A Steve Giles unbeaten three plus two each from Phil Digby and Barbara O’Brien settled things. A Ron Coutts hat trick and two from Sarah Mapes secured RESSC a 5 - 4 win at Warehouse C. Gordon Child won two of the home team’s points. Castle Point C were too strong when playing hosts to Canvey C. Paul Thompson won all his games and John Beddow two. Geoff Banthorpe got two for Canvey. Warehouse C were too strong when they paid a visit to the youngsters of Rawreth G. The games were much closer than the 9 – 0 result suggests. One result from week 10 saw Rawreth H continue their rise up the table with a crushing 8-1 victory over Hockley E. Three wins each for David Barnes and Jan Thorpe supported by a brace for Pat Townsley moves them up to 6th in the league but only a point behind third placed Customs B. Barbara Boshell picked up the consolation point for Hockley. Hullbridge G moved up to 4th place with a close fought 5-4 win against the youngsters of Hullbridge G who picked up their 5th consecutive win. There were braces all round for Adam Jackman and Daniel Zeffie for Hullbridge and Keith Baxter and Mike Keeble for Invicta but a vital single win for James Goddard of Hullbridge. Still unbeaten and now 5 points clear at the top are Hockley C however, who eased to a 7-2 win against Canvey D. Stuart Adshead and Jon Knight both recorded hat-tricks with one win from Matt Nariel and Stuart Curham and Ray Baker got the points for Canvey Paul
