Match Report

With Taverners leading 4-2 against the "high flying" Newton Abbot Eagles team, we had thoughts of a win or at least a draw!

However, spearheaded by the "boisterous" Ed (he certainly kept the local residents from their sleep!), supported by the ever consistent Andy plus an important point from Louis Wilshere, Eagles turned the match round to win 6-4.

As usual, there were many tight sets between the 2 teams highlighted from the Taverners prospective with Colin coming back brilliantly from 2 games down to beat Ed and Martin having a "rare" win against Andy in 4. I wish I could have replicated this against Andy but having come back well from 2 down, Andy deservedly won the decider.

Finally, a special mention for Louis Wilshere (a regular in the Exeter League) who contributed a vital point for Eagles in defeating Colin which cemented the recovery and eventual win.

An excellent and enjoyable evening of quality table tennis against one of the title chasing teams in Division 2 and for Taverners, at the end of the day, an important 4 points
