Brandon Bees v Eagles

In the earlier fixture between these two teams Bees came away with a 10-0 win and must have been hoping for a similar result but the Eagles team are improving massively with every game and gave a real good account of themselves. The teams were exactly the same as earlier in the season with the Bees having the second best player in the league Jamie Lupton supported by Paul Lupton and Caroline Lee. Eagles had their all junior team of Jack Pugh, Haydn Williamson and Luke Dumighan, who got off to an excellent start going into a 3-1 lead. The doubles however went to Brandon and then games went to both sides leaving the final game the decider with Jack Pugh needing to beat Paul to gain the draw. Jack lost the first game but looked comfortable in the next two, winning them both, but Paul came back the level the match and Jack had to really dig deep to come away 11-7 in the final end, leaving the result a very fair 5-5 for both teams. Jamie Lupton took MVP with three wins, but both Haydn and Jack won 2, and Luke chipped in with good win, and only lost another game 11-9 in the final end giving him a successful night as well.

Devils v Desperadoes.

The Brandon Devils team had the exciting Ryan Morton playing for them with reliable John Parkin and the aggressive Ian Cumpson, but Desperadoes fielded a strong team as well with Captain Kevin Richardson joined by father and son combo, Nigel and Sam Duffin. This was a very competitive match but Ryan took MVP for the Devils winning all his games and took the doubles with John, but that was the only successes for the Brandon team, as Kevin, Nigel and Sam all took 2 singles each, to give the Sacriston team a 6-4 victory.

Bombers v St Gabriels C

Bombers could only manage 2 players against St Gabriels C, Dan Hutchinson and Ian McPherson. St Gabriels travelled with Geoff Young, Steven Young and Mark Burton guaranteeing them at least 3 points. This was the only three points they would get with both Dan and Ian being in magnificent form and taking all the singles fairly convincingly and only struggled with the doubles waiting until the final end before clinching the final point to win 7-3.

Aces v St Gabriels A

Aces are in a solid mid table position and were up against the team just above them so a tough game was guaranteed against St Gabriels A who had the usual suspects of George Gibson, Norman Pescod and Tom Bainbridge. Aces were missing Jon Mawson so drafted in Nigel Coe from the Bombers to team up with Ian McAllister and Duncan Fraser. Ian McAllister took MVP with a performance beating all three in the singles, Duncan Fraser also won a game but with George and Norman winning 2 and Tom winning one and St Gabriels winning the doubles, the Saints took the honours 6-4 but Aces gained a valuable 4 points to maintain 5th place.
