Bombers v Old England

A tremendous match between unbeaten, and runaway league leaders, Old England, who travelled to the young guns of Bombers. Old England were looking to consolidate their lead and with their three players in the top 10 of the league averages Joe Muldowney, Lynn Herrington and Jake Helm were up against the all junior team of Dan Hutchinson, Peter Smallcombe and Max Duffin. Games of note involved the dynamic Jake(Bomber) Helm against Max Duffin where Max went 2-1 up but couldn’t close out Jake, once he started going for his power shots and lost 3-2. Jakes next game against Peter Smallcombe was a dynamic game between two good friends and practise partners but Peter wasn’t giving anything away and kept forcing Jake away from the table with his backhand before unleashing his forehand to beat Jake in 3 ends. The rock solid performance of the night was from Joe Muldowney who came away with player of the match with three hard fought victories in the singles and combined with Jake to take the doubles. Result was a very close 6-4 to Old England with lots of respect going to the youngsters of Sacriston for a fantastic match.

Eagles v Falcons               

A good natured game took place between the youngsters from the club with consistent Jack Pugh, exciting Luke Dumighan, and improving Chris Jennings against new club member Kevin Richardson and guests Geoff Sykes and Charlie Millar. Most games were very close with the longest being the one between Chris and Geoff which went to the final end with Geoff’s consistent returns taking him through 3-2. Luke ended up player of the match taking all his singles and with Jack Pugh taking two and Chris taking one they overcame the Falcons 6-4.
