Eagles v St Gabriels E

Jack Pugh, Haydn Williamson and Charlie Coates were up against St Gabriels E who were a player down but still fielded, one of the leagues top performers in David Aldridge and the consistent Viv Ford.

Jack Pugh got off to a  winning start beating Viv Ford over 4 ends after losing the first end, Haydn struggled against David who won in three. Charlie had a tremendous game against Viv with the game going one way and the other but eventually Viv’s overall consistency gave her the final end in a 3-2 win. Haydn alos took Viv to 5 ends but couldn’t manage the final shots in his last end. Jack was the only player to take an end off David, but it wasn’t enough to unsettle him and David took it 3-1 giving St Gabriels 6-4 win and three points.

Desperadoes v Chargers 160115

The inter club derby included a father v son contest and a possible handicap cup match up

Desperadoes had regular John Reid with Nigel Duffin and Matt Greenwood who is making a name for himself taking some notable scalps. Chargers had the talented 13 year old Max Duffin, the solid Terry Charlton and Paul Salkeld in his first season in the league.

The score card does not represent the competitiveness of all the matches and even though Matt Greenwood was the only one to win a game against possible handicap cup opponent Paul Salkeld, for Desperadoes, the rest of the games were all extremely close with particular mention of Terry really struggling to beat John Reid and the father and son match where Nigel used his knowledge of his son’s game to press him back in every point. However Chargers came through the singles 8-1 and with Peter Whitfield joining Max in the doubles they defeated Matt and John 3-1 to give Chargers all 4 points in a 9-1 victory.

Club News

The club have used the money from Sported to fund three new competition tables at Kimblesworth. They have been delivered and the first games will take place on Tuesday when Chargers play League leadesr Brandon A and Max Duffin plays his handicap cup game against Jacob Helm.

Tales from Kimblesworth have been moved, three of them to Fram to supplement the tables at the Satellite sessions on Mondays and one of the tables has been moved along with another table donated by Malcolm Lusk to Fyndoune. This will enable us to set one table up just for the robot which is now housed at Fyndoune.
