Season 2016/16

Junior and Cadet teams representing the Northumbria League are playing in the Northern Region National Junior League and National Cadet League. All matches are played at Ormesby TTC.

Twelve-year-old Peter Smallcombe was the star of the Cramlington 2 Star Junior tournament when he swept the board to win the Under-13 Boys, Cadet Boys and the Junior Boys events.

Szabo came out on top in a round-robin contest for the Under-11 Boys.

Chu Yin Yu was unbeaten as the Chinese Association defeated Newton A 6 – 4 and Dave Robson recorded a hat trick to give Byker A a draw away to Springwell B.

Two each from Jimmy Scope, Chris Blake and Joshua Weatherby gave Saint Chads a 6 – 4 success over N.E. Chinese Association but they all lost  to Chun Yin Yu.

Two weeks into the new season and the likely top contenders for each division are starting to prove themselves. In the Premier Division Springwell A and St Chads each had 7-3 away victories against NECA ‘A’ and Unionist taking them to first and second places in their table.

Old England with 46 points and North East Chinese Association on 45 points head division 2, though NECA have played one more match. 

Cramlington Corinthians, on 54 points, top division 4 a full  10 points ahead of Sacriston Comets.

 In division one Springwell A and Cramlington Stingers each have 38 points with Springwell in first place on countback. Springwell beat Seaburn Dene 10-0 and Stingers gained a 6-4 away victory at St Chads who are in third place.

The Handicap Cup final was played at Cramlington on 23/04/15 between Byker A and Cramlington Corinthians. Please see attached document for photos and the scoresheet. Cramlington ran out 5-4 winners.

Unbeaten performances  by Karen Henry and Barry Hill against Riding Mill B kept North Fire B in the  picture but they must now rely on Seaburn Dene slipping up in their last two  games.

The draw for the semi finals was made at the last meeting of the Directors of Northumberland Table Tennis. It was drawn as :

There is a great opportunity to see some of the best table tennis players in action in the North East next weekend, 14 and 15 March, when the Ormesby Club hosts the final weekend of the Premier British League.

Keith Weatherby won all of his matches for the Saints with Jimmy Scope and Chris Blake getting one each and Weatherby and Blake combining to take the doubles.

However they still persisted in playing Yu in their third division side the following week.
