Match Report

Although Cliff were 9,1 victors, it wasn't all plain sailing. Chris Drury and Phil Thomas picked up maximums, with the former, losing just one leg all evening. The match of the night, was Shane Jarrett and Phil Thomas.  A seesaw match, fluctuated, with some briliant attacking and sometimes unbelievable retrieving. Shane looked like he would pull of a tremendous upset, when leading 10,8 in the fifth and two match points up, but the Cliff player is a class act, and came back to edge it, 12,10 in the fifth. Nick Boden also played well against Phil, leading 10.5 in the third, but the Cliff player was at it again, pulling off another good comeback. Chris Drury was in terrific form, and only Peter Worthington, managed to squeeze a leg. The latter will feel disappointed at losing a 7,2 lead in the fourth against David McAulay, before succumbing in five. Shane took out Dave in four, for Upnor's only point.
